NHL Notes: Escrow, Leafs, Ducks, Stamkos, Keith, Seabrook, Point, and Fancy Pucks

Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook will play in their 1,000th game as teammates tonight.
Escrow increasing

Larry Brooks: “Second quarter escrow withholding rate increases from 11.5 to 13.5% in response to NHL’s downward adjustment of second quarter HRR.”

Allan Walsh: (noting on Brooks’ tweet) “NHL CBA: Sign an employment contract and 13.5% of your compensation gets withheld from your paycheck and returned to your employer.”

Pierre LeBrun: (noting on Brooks’ tweet) “Certainly noteworthy. Not only because of lower HRR projections but also because of exchange rate and increased player compensation.”

Pierre LeBrun: (noting on Brooks’ tweet) “And of those three factors I would rate the exchange rate as being No 1.”

Leafs sign one, make two AHL trades

Chris Johnston: The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenseman Calle Rosen to a two-year contract extension worth $750,000 per season. It’s a one-way deal so it’s looking like he could be in their plans as an NHL option.

Toronto Marlies: The Marlies trade goaltender Jeff Glass to the San Diego Gulls for future considerations.

Anaheim Ducks: Traded defenseman Steven Oleksy to the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Adam Cracknell.

Stamkos hits a milestone

NHL Public Relations: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos became the first player selected in the 2008 NHL draft to reach 700 points.

NHL Public Relations: Stamkos joins Martin St. Louis (953 points) and Vincent Lecavalier (874 points) as the only Lightning players to hit 700 points.

Bryan Burns: Stamkos’ hat trick last night was his ninth in a Lightning jersey. He passed St. Louis who had eight. Lecavalier had six.
