NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens

Have the Edmonton Oilers asked Cam Talbot for his 10 team trade list. Defenseman Oscar Klefbom could be on the move.
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jim Matheson: “It’s laughable that anybody thinks Draisaitl is available. No way, no how. Not even for Karlsson.”

Dennis Bernstein: The Oilers have asked Cam Talbot for his 10-team trade list. The Oilers are actively shopping him. Oscar Klefbom is also in play.

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The Oilers are not trading goaltending Cam Talbot. The Carolina Hurricanes could be calling the Oilers, but the Oilers don’t have someone to take over.

Talbot has a year left on his contract, so do they let him play out the year or do they look to sign him to an extension after the season?

If Talbot doesn’t have a great season, they could look trade him at the deadine. Talbot has a 10-team trade list.

“I know Cam had a really good exit meeting but I haven’t really spoken to Edmonton at all,” said Talbot’s agent George Bazos, who also represents Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. “I imagine I’ll bump into Peter at the draft … but there’s no big plans or anything.”

Talbot’s agent added that if the Oilers want to talk extension, they are open to the idea.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Chris Nichols of FRS Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 650 on how Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is interested in making some more deals.

“One of them could very well be Pacioretty, the other could be the No. 3 pick. I don’t really have anything else there for you. But I think he’s a guy who’s not afraid to be active. I think instead of adding just one asset in the first round of the draft, I think he’d like to add more. It’s a question of what he wants to do.

“I do think now based on the Domi deal that he’s going to go out and take the Finnish center. But I think one thing he’s deciding is how low could he go and still get the player. I think that’s kind of where we are right now.”
