On the Anaheim Ducks …
Eric Stephens of the OC Register: The acquisition of Patrick Eaves will help out the Anaheim Ducks offense and power play. Eaves flew to LA last night and could be in the lineup today.
Bob Murray doesn’t feel any pressure to trade from their blueline depth now, but realizes he may have to address it after the season.
“I don’t feel I have to make another move, first of all,” Murray said. “Yes, we have depth on defense. We have good young defensemen coming. I don’t have to do anything at this point in time with my defense. I don’t have to do a thing.
“I may have to address some situations at the expansion draft time (in June), but we’ll know more at that point in time.”
Murray said could make a “hockey deal” if one came up.
On who should be sellers and buyers needs …
Kevin Allen of USA Today: Teams who should be sellers:
Arizona Coyotes – Martin Hanzal, Shane Doan, Radim Vrbata
Detroit Red Wings – Thomas Vanek, Brendan Smith and Steve Ott
Dallas Stars – Patrick Eaves, Patrick Sharp, Johnny Oduya
Colorado Avalanche – Rene Bourque, Jarome Iginla and Fedor Tyutin
Buffalo Sabres – Dmitry Kulikov, Brian Gionta and Cody Franson
Vancouver Canucks – Alex Burrows and Ryan Miller
Teams who should be buyers and needs:
New York Rangers – puck-moving/power play defenseman
Chicago Blackhawks – scoring winger, maybe to play with Jonathan Toews
San Jose Sharks
Boston Bruins – top-four defenseman
Montreal Canadiens – big center
Ottawa Senators
The Colorado Avalance are unlikely to move either Matt Duchene or Gabriel Landeskog, but it’s still possible.
