Rangers don’t think they are out on Panarin, Avs made an offer and the latest estimates
Bob McKenzie: Get the sense that the New York Rangers feel that they are still in the hunt for Artemi Panarin.
David Pagnotta: Believe that the Islanders, Panthers and maybe the Rangers are finalists for Panarin.
If it’s the Islanders, it could be at seven years at over $12 million per.
If it’s the Panthers, it could be at seven years at around $10-$11 million AAV.
Adrian Dater: Had been hearing the Colorado Avalanche had offered six years and $70 million for Panarin
- Elliotte Friedman: Had heard the Avs had offered $12.5 million per, going more money with the shorter term.
- Adrian Dater: Have been told it would have been $12.5 on a shorter-term. Panarin will be 28-years old in October and the Avs are a little leery. Term is a worry for the Avs.
- Elliotte Friedman: If Panarin was willing to go four or five years it would have been $12.5, but he is going to get term and the money. It was a good attempt by the Avs.
Lehner turns down a two-year deal from Islanders
Andy Strickland: It’s believed that Robin Lehner turned down a two-year deal at around $5 million per from the New York Islanders.
Islanders and Hurricanes goalie update
Pierre LeBrun: With Semyon Varlamov potentially signing with Islanders, have been hearing the Carolina Hurricanes are focusing on Petr Mrazek and Robin Lehner.
Arthur Staple: “The appeal of Varlamov for #Isles — likely cheaper than Lehner’s ask and he’s tight with Ilya Sorokin. Would provide a bridge to Sorokin arriving next spring and a mentor of sorts. And still plenty of room for Panarin at 12m per, plus a 3C — someone like Colin Wilson, perhaps.”
