The Columbus Blue Jackets and Charlie Coyle are closing in on an extension

Rick Dhaliwal: It’s sounding like one of the top potential unrestricted free agent centers will be off the market, as the Columbus Blue Jackets and Charlie Coyle are nearing an extension.

Aaron Portzline: “#CBJ Charlie Coyle turned 34 in March. The really interesting number in any extension will be the term, but Coyle has plenty of leverage. Four years minimum, I’d say. But #CBJ feel comfortable building a forward corps with Fantilli, Monahan, Coyle, Sillinger, etc., at center.”

So far, the Edmonton Oilers’ permission to speak with Bruce Cassidy has been denied

Frank Seravalli: Sources have said that the Edmonton Oilers asked and were not given permission by the Vegas Golden Knights to speak with Bruce Cassidy. For now, the divisional rival hasn’t granted permission.

Questions remain for the Maple Leafs

@nylanderthews: Chris Johnston said on TSN 1050 First UP that he can’t say for sure that Craig Berube will remain as the Toronto Maple Leafs head coach.

The biggest question may be if Brendan Pridham remains with the Leafs or not.

Leafs GM John Chayka and Auston Matthews don’t have anything scheduled this week.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be looking for a centerman this offseason

NHL Watcher: Elliotte Friedman was on the Sportsnet 590 The Fan Hockey Show last week and said that Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois had been trying to land another centerman, a fairly prominent one. Friedman added that he will continue to look for a center this offseason to help out Brayden Point and Anthony Cirelli.

The Lightning are also wondering how close prospect Sam O’Reilly is, and if it’s possible that he could fill that need.

The Dallas Stars could put a defenseman on the trade market

NHL Rumour Report: David Pagnotta on Hello Hockey last week on the Dallas Stars and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin: “I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear Ilya Lyubushkin’s name out there in the trade market; we heard his name a little bit closer to the deadline, they were trying to make money work.”
