On the Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets and San Jose Sharks …
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: At least the Detroit Red Wings and Anaheim Ducks tried to trade for Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba.
“(Cheveldayoff) isn’t going to make this move unless he gets what he wants and that’s a comparable asset in return,” a league insider said Saturday.
It was rumored that the Red Wings tried to get third team involved to get the asset the Jets are asking for. Trouba could still be traded after the December 1st deadline, but the price would drop significantly. If he’s not traded before, he could sign a short-team with the Jets and wait for a trade.
“My understanding is there’s been very little dialogue between the Jets and Trouba with the exception of a weekly phone call from his (agent) Kurt Overhardt to see where things are at,” said the insider.
Vancouver Canucks coach Willie Desjardins knows he’s on the hotseat. The Canucks have Travis Green coaching in Utica.
Talk is the Arizona Coyotes want to make a move, and it would make sense if they want to do something on the backend.
The Islanders are looking to trade Jaroslav Halak and Calvin de Haan. Coach Jack Capuano could be fired as things are getting messy with the Islanders.
If the Florida Panthers can’t trade defenseman Steve Kampfer, they could waive him and his $612,500 cap hit.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are trying to move out salary. They’ve been trying to trade Scott Hartnell for awhile. They could listen to offers on Jack Johnson who makes $4.375 million.
The San Jose Sharks have been looking for a backup goaltender with no luck. The Sharks are right against the cap and could listen to offers on Tommy Wingels or Matt Nieto.
