NHL Rumors: Canucks, Blackhawks, Oilers and Canadiens

Milan Lucic
On the Vancouver Canucks …

Rick Dhaliwal: Agent Todd Diamond on Sportsnetf 650 on RFA Markus Granlund: “We have held some preliminary talks with the , things will heat up at the draft in Dallas. We are talking about a short term deal.

Rick Dhaliwal: The Canucks and unrestricted free agent Darren Archibald have started contract talks.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Mike G. Morreale of NHL.com: VP of amateur scouting Mark Kelly on the Blackhawks holding No. 8 pick.

“I think a player we have listed as top-six value would be available to us at No. 8,” Kelley said. “I wouldn’t want to say we’re drafting by need, but when you look at the forwards and the defensemen that are available you can go for a preference.”

On the Milan Lucic …

TSN: Pierre LeBrun when asked if Milan Lucic will finish the remaining five years and $30 million deal with the Oilers.

“There are absolutely trade conversations happening between the Edmonton Oilers and other clubs but when I talk to some clubs around the league the impression I get is that it’s not Peter Chiarelli, the general manager, saying I need to dump this player and this contract, it’s Chiarelli saying are you interested in making a hockey deal.

And that gives me the impression that this isn’t so much as Edmonton trying to get rid of Lucic as perhaps more Lucic suggesting a change of scenery – although everyone connected will not confirm that.

I will say this: a lot of people are connecting the dots to the Montreal Canadiens because they were runners up in trying to sign Lucic two years ago. I’m told there’s no way the Canadiens aren’t interested at this point in Lucic.”
