NHL Rumors: Chicago Blackhawks, and the Boston Bruins

Duncan Keith said he hasn't been asked to waive his NMC, a report that Brent Seabrook said "No" to waiving his.
Seabrook says “No” to waiving his NMC … Keith said he hasn’t been asked yet

Mark Lazerus: (from Friday) Duncan Keith said he hadn’t been asked by the Blackhawks about waiving his no-movement clause. He said he hadn’t really thought about it.

When asked if he’s okay for a rebuild/retool.

“What’s a rebuild or a retool, who knows what that is? New Jersey was good last year and now they’re not good this year. So what happened? I don’t know. … The league’s different now. One year you’re good, the next year you’re not.”

Mike Johnston: Elliotte Friedman said that the Chicago Blackhawks had asked defenseman Brent Seabrook if he would waive his no-movement clause, and at this point he said no. The Blackhawks may still talk to teams about him anyways.

Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago: Going off of Friedman’s weekend report of Seabrook saying “No” to the Blackhawks request of waiving his no-movement.

He didn’t nix any trade, just turned down the request to waive his NMC.

Seabrook will have five years left on his deal after this season at a cap hit of $6.875 million. For the final two years of the deal it goes from a no-movement to a modified no-trade.

The Blackhawks will also likely approach defenseman Duncan Keith, who holds a no-movement for the remaining four years of his deal.

Bruins looking for a forward

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger was on WGR 550 and was asked about the Boston Bruins and if they’ll be looking to do anything before the trade deadline.

“Yeah, or before, right,” replied Dreger. “Boston is definitely thinking that they’ve got to add up front. They’d like to add a center. If they can’t find that piece, whoever it might be – Matt Duchene, if he’s available – then maybe they look to a right-winger. I think they’ve got interest in Toffoli. My understanding is Boston is going to heavily scout tonight’s Senators-Pittsburgh game, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a play on Ryan Dzingel.”
