NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche and the Ottawa Senators

Matt Duchene
On the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators …

Adrian Dater of BSN Denver: The Avalanche, Predators, and Senators have been talking trade for a while now, and had been told that the potential three-trade wasn’t as close as some might have thought – from the Avs side of things.

Don’t see GM Joe Sakic coming down on his wish for a top-young defenseman and/or a top defensive prospect.

believes Duchene will eventually get traded, but not in a deal that is somewhat of a gamble on a player or prospect.

Mike Johnston Of Sportsnet: Nick Kypreos on “Headlines” said that it doesn’t look like Kyle Turris will remain with the Senators beyond this season.

“Everybody, for the most part, agrees that the marketplace for Kyle Turris is in the vicinity of $6.5 million , ballpark, and he wants a minimum of seven or eight years,” Kypreos said Saturday during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “Even if Dorion liked those numbers it appears that he does not have the support of his ownership. Eugene Melnyk doesn’t appear in any hurry to sign him to this type of contract.”

Kypreos adds that there are some teams that would want to talk contract extension with Turris before making a deal. A seven- or eight-year contract at $6.5 million per season wouldn’t scare off some teams like it does for the Senators.

Mike Johnston of Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on “Headlines” the three-team trade talk.

“From what I understand were getting at least one first-rounder, maybe two, and other picks depending on the quality of prospects…however, I don’t think this is over,” Friedman said Saturday during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “I still think Colorado is motivated to trade Matt Duchene, I think Ottawa is very motivated to acquire Matt Duchene, I just don’t know if Nashville is going to be part of this when they continue and move forward.”

Chris Johnston said that Duchene would be okay with going to the Senators.
