EJ Hradek: “All right, I got to follow up with another goalie question here. Connor Hellebuyck. I mean, I’m of the mind he’s going to get traded. I’m of the mind I think he’s going to get traded to Buffalo. But as you like to say, Elliotte, there’s no pressure right now, right? Like we’re in we’re in early August, so I think they’re they’re bickering about what the price is. As we get closer, maybe they’ll figure it out. Maybe they won’t. What are you hearing?”

Friedman: “I hear it’s quiet. You know, EJ. I think that, I’m with you. I still think he gets moved at some point in time, but I think right now, like I asked around today, and I’ll be honest, I didn’t get a lot.

I was just told quiet, quiet. And it could be one of those things that picks up closer to training camp. You know, sometimes I’m like, okay, when I hear quiet, quiet, I’m, my paranoia kicks in, and I think that something’s going on.

But and I recognize anything can change with one phone call, but I don’t want to mislead anyone. People were just telling me there’s not much going on there right now.”

St. Louis Blues Jimmy Snuggerud is eligible for a contract extension. Will they wait? Short-term or long-term?

Jeremy Rutherford and Shayna Goldman of the Athletic: St. Louis Blues forward Jimmy Snuggerud is entering the final year of his entry-level deal, and is eligible for an extension at any time now. There were some big contracts signed by players coming out their entry-level deals, and Snuggerud will be in line for a big raise after putting up 21 goals and 30 assists in 70 games during his rookie season.

Recent comps on a long-term deal could be Tyson Foerster‘s eight-year deal at $7.1 million and Zach Benson‘s seven-year, $7.5 million. AFP Analytics projects a seven-year deal at $8.81 million. Dom Luszczysyn’s average market value model projects him at $10.8 million over eight years. Older comps could be William Nylander, Mika Zibanejad, Nick Schmaltz and Travis Konecny.

Short-term projections are three years at $5.86 million from AFP Analytics. A five-year deal would take him to unrestricted free agency at 28 years old.

Snuggerud is projected to skate with Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway on the top line next, so his numbers could go up. Will the Blues, or Snuggerud, want to negotiate an extension now or wait?
