Darren Dreger: The Calgary Flames are trying to trade 24-year-old forward Connor Zary. He’s got one year left on his contract at a $3.775 million cap hit. It’s believed they are asking for a second-round pick for Zary.
Pierre LeBrun: Things can always change quickly, but the market appears to be quiet for forward Blake Coleman.
He has a 10-team trade list and those teams may not have the cap room, or they’re working on other deals at the moment.
The 34-year-old Coleman has a year left at $4.9 million.

A mid-term extension for Quinn Hughes?
TSN: Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold said that they’re going to sign defenseman Quinn Hughes to a contract extension, and they’ll likely meet in the middle on term.
We had to give up a lot to get him in this past year. We are going to re-sign him. The question will be for how long. We would like to go as long as we could.
He will probably want it to be a little shorter — shorter being maybe three years. We hopefully will end up at five. I don’t know, and the reason I can openly talk about this is that I’m not doing the negotiating.”
