8. James Neal – winger
7. Derek Ryan – center
6. Thomas Hickey – defense
5. Tobias Rieder – winger
4. Thomas Vanek – winger
3. Riley Nash – center
2. Paul Stastny – center
1. Michael Grabner – winger

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Frank Seravalli: The Maple Leafs are among the teams that have shown interest in free agent center Derek Ryan. The Maple Leafs haven’t made a firm offer to Ryan, who has multi-year offers from the Calgary Flames and another Central Division team. The Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets are also thought to be in the mix for Ryan.

Jame Mirtle: “Why would Toronto look at Ryan? Well if they don’t view Nylander as a centre, they badly need to add a 3C this summer. And probably a 4C, too. And centre market is pricey right now.”

James Mirtle of The Athletic: Center Derek Ryan appears to be part of the Maple Leafs contingency plan. There has been talk that Ryan will be signing with the Calgary Flames and he had multiple teams willing to do mulit-year deals at over $3 million.

It is believed that Maple Leafs asked Ryan not to make a final decision until they hear about John Tavares, as he would become their next option. Ryan would be a Tyler Bozak replacement on the third line.

Bozak could be looking at a deal over four years at more than $4 million. The Colorado Avalanche are rumored to have interest.
