What direction will the Toronto Maple Leafs go with Nick Robertson?

Jeremy Tingly of The Leafs Nation: It’ll be another offseason of uncertainty for Toronto Maple Leafs winger Nick Robertson. He asked for a trade last offseason, but didn’t get one. He put up 16 goals and 16 assists in a career high 78 games in somewhat limited ice-time. The Maple Leafs could use a right winger for Auston Matthews and a third-line center, so he could be part of that package.

Robertson to David Alter: “I’m gonna, not gonna take a deep dive in my future, I don’t know what, what my future holds. But I will say that everyone here has been unbelievable with me, for my family, for me, guys here this year, I love these guys.

There are plenty of decisions looming for the Detroit Red Wings this offseason

Max Bultman of The Athletic: The Detroit Red Wings need to decide if Steve Yzerman is back for sure, and if there will be any management changes. Then they’ll need to decide if they need to make some big roster changes or just a few tweaks.

They could use a top-line left winger, and if Patrick Kane leaves as a free agent, they’ll need to find another top-six winger. Emmitt Finnie might develop into a top-six forward, but he isn’t there yet.

The Red Wings need to make some changes and get deeper in their bottom six with more scoring and physicality. Adding to their top six would bump some depth down. Their fourth line could be heavier, with someone like A.J. Greer or Michael McCarron.

The Wings could have some decisions to make with J.T. Compher, Mason Appleton and Michael Rasmussen.

Alex DeBrincat is extension eligible this offseason, and he’s coming off the Red Wings’ first 40-goal season since Marion Hossa in 2008-09. His 85 points were a career high. Adrian Kempe‘s $10.625 million deal could be the floor for a DeBrincat extension.

It’s Time for the Detroit Red Wings to Add Some NHL-Calibre Players

Defenseman Simon Edvinsson is a pending RFA and is in line for a big, long-term extension. A long-term deal could be in the $9 million range, or they could look at doing a short-term deal at a lower cost.  A long-term deal could be the better option.
