The Florida Panthers could move Derick Brassard by the deadline, but not guaranteed.
Howard likely staying put … unless a sleeper West coast team steps up

Ted Kulfan: Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard likely isn’t getting moved tomorrow.

If there is a contending team that comes calling suddenly, it’s likely the San Jose Sharks. Martin Jones has a .897 save percentage.

Top-six options for Bruins

David Pagnotta: It’s believed that the Boston Bruins are still trying to acquire a top-six forward. Varying levels of interest for Kevin Hayes, Chris Kreider, Jeff Carter and Mark Stone.

Panthers have Brassard’s list but not a guarantee that he’s traded

George Richards of The Atletic: The Florida Panthers held center Derick Brassard out yesterday against the LA Kings.

Brassard has submitted a list of 10 teams that he would not accept a trade to.

“I just don’t really know what is happening,” Brassard said Friday after practice.

It’s possible that the Panthers don’t trade him before the deadline.

“We are being honest with him,” Boughner said before the game Saturday. “I just spoke to him a few minutes ago, and it’s a situation where we need to be fair to him as well as be fair to ourselves. It’s the right thing to do. There is definitely interest in Derick out there, and I think in talking to Dale, we are just not going to give him away. If a team does not make a great offer, we are more than happy to keep him here.”

Pending Panthers UFAs include Riley Sheahan, Bogdan Kiselevich, Jamie McGinn, Troy Brouwer and Chris Wideman.

Defenseman Mark Pysyk is available and he has a year left.

“We are going to do what I always say: Do what is best for the long-term health of the Florida Panthers,” Tallon said. “We have some good players, we will see if we can tweak things a little bit and keep getting better.”
