To qualify or not, that is the question for the Washington Capitals

Sammi Silber of The Hockey News: The Washington Capitals will need to decide whether or not to qualify 24-year-old pending UFA forward, Hendrix Lapierre.

The versatile forward played wing and some center, moved up and down the lineup, getting some top-six minutes later in the season due to some injuries. His game has some inconsistencies, and he didn’t produce much offense – four goals and 12 assists in 74 games. Capitals GM Chris Patrick:

“Probably he admitted he didn’t do as well as he would have hoped with that (opportunity), so I think for him, he’s shown that he can play at this league and play a solid, veteran-type game, limit his mistakes. Now, he needs to show that he can produce and be a point-getting guy with his skill set.”

What’s Next for the Chicago Blackhawks?

What’s first for Sunny Mehta, the New Jersey Devils new GM?

Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta, on the New Jersey Devils, and what could be first up for new GM Sunny Mehta?

“Like, I’m curious, you know, New Jersey, what happens now with the Devils, and where’s that priority list lie for Sonny Mehta, now taken over as GM. How quickly do you have that conversation with Nico Hischier about an extension with his camp? What happens with Dougie Hamilton? Can that relationship be mended? You know now that there’s a, you know, a new boss in town, or is the preference still to be, to be moved. So curious to see what happens in, in Jersey.”
