NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Five Teams That Could Use Tarasenko

The Edmonton Oilers could be a team interested in St. Louis Blues Vladimir Tarasenko
Oilers searching for a forward

Ryan Rishaug: “Oilers organization is on a full court press to find help at forward. Scouts and staff deployed en masse.

Cap situation could make it tough, but first round pick, a goaltender, maybe a young developing forward likely all in play.”

Dustin Nielson: Goaltender Mikko Koskinen has a no-movement clause and Cam Talbot has a modified no-trade clause. Trading a goalie may not be that easy.

Jason Gregor: “Two weeks ago Chiarelli said they needed to shore up defence thus the trades. Even though offensive depth has been issue all year, only now are they going on full court press? Teams know they are desperate, so dealing from position of weakness.”

Dustin Nielsen: The St. Louis Blues were interested in Jesse Puljujarvi at the draft. Wonder if they would still be interested.

The Ducks may not be finished

John Hoven: Keep an eye on the Anaheim Ducks. Have been told that forward Jakob Silfverberg is the next likely Ducks player to be traded.

Jonathan Davis: (answering question) Don’t see the Ducks trading defenseman Hampus Lindholm.

With defenseman Josh Mahura not being far off, they could look to move Brandon Montour.

Rickard Rakell is their top scorer, is on a cap friendly deal and is likely untouchable.

Jakob Silfverberg could be traded and then possibly re-signed after July 1st.

Five teams that should be interested in trading for Tarasenko

Matt Larkin of The Hockey News: Five teams that should be interested in trading for St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko.

Carolina Hurricanes – Need scoring. The Blues may be looking for draft picks and/or prospects. Likely wouldn’t move Andrei Svechnikov but it may cost Martin Necas.

Boston Bruins – They may have trouble fitting his cap number in as they also need to sign some RFAs. May have to give up one of Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, Ryan Donato, Danton Heinen, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson or Jake DeBrusk.

Vegas Golden Knights – They are deep up front but could use a high-end shooter. The Golden Knights have 18 draft picks over the next two drafts. With about $73 million committed to 14 players next season they would need to move out salary.

Edmonton Oilers – Tarasenko and Connor McDavid together? Prospect pool isn’t deep and wouldn’t make sense to trade Evan Bouchard. Could take Kailer Yamamoto and/or Jesse Puljujarvi for starters.

Buffalo Sabers – Could use some scoring depth. Have the cap space to take on Tarasenko and still have money to re-sign Jeff Skinner.
