Playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl could take a hit for some players if Mike Babcock is there

Jason Gregor: A text from an NHL player agent when asked about the Edmonton Oilers coaching position, and Mike Babcock:

“The opportunity to play with McDavid or Draisaitl is diminished with the potential to be coached by Babcock. It is a valid concern voiced to me by a few of my clients.”

NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres, and the St. Louis Blues

The Vegas Golden Knights are never afraid to make a bold move

Daily Faceoff: Colby Cohen and David Pagnotta talking about the Vegas Golden Knights not being afraid to make bold moves to improve their team and/or to shed salary.

Cohen: “It wouldn’t shock me to see Vegas do anything, so it wouldn’t shock me if they went out and tried to move Mark Stone at 34 years old to make room for (Pavel) Dorofeyev, and then to make room to go out and get Dylan Larkin into the fold, with, from a financial standpoint.

Like nothing surprises me with this team. And by the way, I have no inside information. Ao anybody who’s listening, be clear here, this is just me thinking out loud about how this team has operated in the past and what we could potentially see them do this summer.

Pagnotta: “Yeah, you’re right. I was listening earlier, like Adin Hill, you guys were talking about. That’s $6.25 million. That’s a guy that’s probably on the outs. That’s the guy that they’re going to, they’re going to likely try to move in order to free up additional money. To give yourself another, you know, $10, $11, $12 million total in cap space to work with.

NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets, Stars, and the Red Wings

The Larkin thing, and how creative they get on that end is what I’m curious about. Can they entice Detroit enough to make that happen? We know it’s one of his top three destinations, but can they make that fit?

And does that even include Dorofeyev? It’d be pretty bold, but you know, if you don’t believe he can be a consistent, like, he’s obviously two years in a row, great. But you know, is that because of his skill or is that because of who he’s playing with? Like, that’s what they have to kind of internalize.”
