Jonathan Drouin of the Tampa Bay Lightning
On the Calgary Flames …

Pat Steinberg: GM Brad Treliving confirmed that Jonas Hiller and Niklas Backstrom won’t be back next year. He said that they need to “solidify” in goal next year.

Pat Steinberg: GM Brad Treliving hasn’t thought about any coaching changes, but added that those types of discussions and evaluations are just beginning.

Pat Steinberg: Joni Ortio is hoping that he’s back with the Flames next season. He added that contract extension talks with the Flames haven’t really started.

Wes Gilbertson: Ortio:  “I’d love to be here long-term, I don’t know if I’ve earned that long-term (deal) yet.”

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Emily Sadler on Sportsnet: Chris Johnston on Sportsnet 960 on the Tampa Bay Lightning and Jonathan Drouin.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure that we’re going to see this guy traded after all this,” Johnston said during an appearance on Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

“I got a sense from being around the situation that maybe some of the, whatever bad blood there was, or hurt feelings or whatever you want to term it as… everyone’s been able to set that aside,” he said.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on the Ottawa Senators.

“They’re going to try to add a center. No doubt about that. They really like Kyle Turris, but they want to get somebody to help him a bit.

“I think they’re going to look for a defensive defenseman. Maybe more of a third-pairing guy. And a defensive defenseman in terms of somebody who would worry about his defensive end first. You’ve got your Karlsson-Methot. You’ve got your Ceci-Phaneuf. I think they’re happy with those two pairs. And now they just want to get one more guy there to play on their third pairing.

“I think they feel they really need a centerman who can handle a lot of the big and tough top centers in the league. That’s what they’d like to do.”
