Garrioch rumor roundup
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher will make decisions on any potential changes after their road trip – four more games after last night’s win.
Fletcher has already been working the phones with other GMs. The Flyers hope to make the playoffs so changes may be needed.
The Flyers have used five goaltenders and it’s an area that needs to be addressed. Hard to see the Columbus Blue Jackets trading Sergei Bobrovsky to a division rival, but you never know.
St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong is talking to teams and lots of names coming up in talks.
“All bets are off in St. Louis,” said one league executive. Added another: “They’ve got lots of names out there right now. … A lot of names.”
Teams have inquired about Blues defenseman Colton Parayko who carries a $5.5 million cap hit through 2021-22.
The Toronto Maple Leafs may have taken calls from as many as 15 teams about William Nylander to see what the asking price could be.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are playing better of late but GM Jim Rutherford remains busy and is always open to making move.
Los Angeles Kings Rob Blake is another GM working the phones to make a trade before the Christmas roster freeze kicks in on December 19th. Teams are asking about forward Tyler Toffoli.
Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon is looking to add a defenseman.
Add Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman to the list of GM busy working the phones. Scott Powers of The Athletic has already reported they’ve been looking to move defensemen Brandon Manning and Jan Rutta. There could be more changes. Forward Artem Anisimov has had him name come up.
Wonder if former Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray may be an option for the Flyers. He and Fletcher are close.
