NHL Rumors: Golden Knights, Panthers, Wild, Coyotes and Iginla

Martin Hanzal and Shane Doan
On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Sin Bin: Vegas will announce their first head coach today. Owner Bill Foley:  “I’d probably be ready by about 12 noon.”

Darren Dreger: The Golden Knights will name Gerard Gallant their first head coach.

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Possible coaching candidates for the Panthers: Jim Montgomery (U Denver), Lindy Ruff, Bob Hartley, Jack Capuano and Paul Maclean.

Ben Kuzma: Panthers GM Dale Tallon called the Canucks about permission to speak with Willie Desjardins but not for permission to talk with Travis Green.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Michael Russo: Wild prospect Jordan Greenway’s advisor said that he doesn’t think Greenway has made a decision on his playing future beyond this spring.

On the Minnesota Wild/Arizona Coyotes …

Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Former Coyote and current Wild center Martin Hanzal said he’s happy to be playing in Minnesota, but said he had open to remaining in Arizona past the trade deadline and signing an extension.

“I guess they didn’t want to go that direction, and I understand,” he said. “It’s part of the business. We weren’t in the playoffs, and we couldn’t get the deal done so that’s what happens.”

When asked if the door is closed to returning to the Coyotes as a free agent this offseason.

“I’m not saying, ‘No.’ I’m not saying, ‘Yes.’”

On Jarome Iginla

Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider: Jarome Iginla held a conference call yesterday and talked about his future.

“I’d like to, but at the same time I’ve got to wait and see what the options are, so it’s not 100%, but I definitely would like to,” he said. “I know that part of it, but I’ve got to wait and see what options are and where things are at there.”

With new management and coaches in place, Iginla isn’t sure if the Kings will be an option for him.

“I don’t know if they’re an option from their point of view,” he said. “I know obviously they have to take time and do what they do in their analysis, but from my point of view that would be an option.”
