NHL Rumors IX: Gorges, Reimer, Brodeur, Bolland, Komarov and Ward
Mark Easson
Dave Stubbs: Josh Gorges just said that he’s “deeply disappointed” by what has gone down. Gorges added: “I want people to know that I never wanted to leave Montreal. In no way has this been my decision.”
J-F Chaumont: Gorges to the Jounal de Montreal: “I have never asked for a trade, this is the call of Marc Bergevin. I am in shock.”
The Fourth Period: If Josh Gorges changes his mind and is willing to accept a deal to the Maple Leafs, a deal could happen today. The Canadiens could receive a roster player according to Bob McKenzie.
Bob McKenzie: The only solution in McKenzie’s opinion is to find one team on Gorges’ trade list that is interested. All teams are from the U.S.
Pat Hickey: If the Canadiens are able to trade Gorges, they should get a top-six forward and let the kids on defense learn on the job.
Darren Dreger: The Leafs don’t have a strong offer for James Reimer. That could change, but if it doesn’t, he’s been told to be ready for training camp.
Darren Dreger: The Maple Leafs will talk to Martin Brodeur, but sense is that their interest is mild.
Darren Dreger: The Maple Leafs are expected to make another offer to Dave Bolland today. Don’t see the Leafs going more than five years and $25 million, which may not be enough.
Pierre LeBrun: LeoKomarov is getting lots of interest. He’s a solid third liner.
Bob McKenzie: The Hurricanes were looking at either a trade or buy out (for budgetary reason) of Cam Ward. Looking like he’ll remain with the Hurricanes next year now. The Flames were one team of several teams that talked to the Hurricanes about a deal. Ward will likely be the Hurricanes No. 1 goalie next year.
