NHL Rumors: Jacob Trouba – No Offer Sheet, Seven Trade Partners

Jacob Trouba

On the Winnipeg Jets and Jacob Trouba …

Bob McKenzie: Jacob Trouba wouldn’t want to sign an offer sheet. If he signed one and the Winnipeg Jets matched, he would be back with the Jets, which defeats the purpose of making a trade request.

Mike Johnston of Sportsnet: Seven possible trading partners for the Winnipeg Jets.

Boston Bruins – The Bruins would likely have to include Torey Krug in a trade for Trouba. If going prospect over roster player, 2015 1st round pick Jakub Zboril or 2016 1st round pick Charlie McAvoy could be options.

Detroit Red Wings – Danny DeKeyser would likely have to be the centrepiece of a deal. Anthony Mantha could be another possible trade chip for the Red Wings.

Arizona Coyotes – The Coyotes have lots of young forwards that they could offer, and Martin Hanzal could be moved at some point.

Toronto Maple Leafs – They won’t give up Morgan Rielly, but they could offer Jake Gardiner and a young forward. Their top three right handed defensemen are Roman Polak, Nikita Zaitsev and Frank Corrado.

New York Rangers – They’d need to clear some salary cap space. The Rangers have traded lots of prospects and picks recently. Could offer salary of Marc Staal or Dan Girardi and prospect Brady Skjei.

New Jersey Devils – John Moore and Jon Merrill are left-handed defensemen that could interest the Jets. They’d have to include a lot more than that though.

Edmonton Oilers – It may be too early for the Oilers to move Darnell Nurse, but Oscar Klefbom is exactly would the Jets are looking for.

Scott Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press: Jacob Trouba’s trade request dates back to last May. Campbell wonders if the trade request was an attempt to force Jets management to choose between Troube and Tyler Myers. Campbell wonders why Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff wouldn’t test the trade value for Myers. Myers is four years younger than Trouba and he ceiling is lower.
