No contract talks between the Jets and Myers, but they aren’t interested in trading him
TSN: Pierre LeBrun on Insider Trading was asked about the Winnipeg Jets pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Tyler Myers.
The Jets are all-in on winning the Cup this year and don’t have to make a decision right now.
“I can tell you the Jets have no intention of trading Myers even if he’s still unsigned long-term at the trade deadline.
“There haven’t been any contract talks but we’re told that Myers’ agent JP Barry met with GM Kevin Chevaldayoff this past Saturday, just to get some clarity on where things are. It can’t be ideal that he’s a third pairing righty but on a team with Dustin Byfuglienand Jacob Trouba, that’s quite a luxury at the same time.”
Teams watching the Puljujarvi situation in Edmonton
TSN: Darren Dreger on Insider Trading was asked about Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi, who hasn’t played since last week.
“It’s caught the attention of teams around the NHL. That’s not to say Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli’s phone is ringing off the hook, that’s not the case. And the Oilers are adamant they’re not going to trade Puljujarvi any time soon.”
Two teams that may make sense for Bobrovsky
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 690 and was asked about possible destinations for Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky if he’s made available.
“Well, it’s hard for me not to think Lou Lamoriello wouldn’t look into it,” noted LeBrun. “Although it’d probably make more sense for Lamoriello to wait until July 1 to try and sign him.”
LeBrun continues that the Islanders make a lot of sense and they have the salary cap room.
LeBrun adds that unlike the Islanders where he’s heard some rumblings, he hasn’t heard anything about the St. Louis Blues, and he thinks they could make some sense.
“If Jake Allen doesn’t firm up his game, does St. Louis look at that.
“I don’t know even the kind of money that Bobrovsky will command, if that makes sense for St. Louis; but again, I’m just trying to give you another potential idea there.”
