Blues hoping to extend Pietrangelo around $8.25 million
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman said on Sportsnet Headline last night that St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong will likely meet with Alex Pietrangelo‘s agents when they are in Toronto this week.
The Blues could be hoping to get him signed to a contract extension at under $9 million a season.
“It is believed the Blues want him around Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s number, which is eight times $8.25 million,” Friedman said. “But, if Pietrangelo was to go to unrestricted free agency, he’d do very well.”
The highest-paid defensemen in the league are Erik Karlsson ($11.5 million), Drew Doughty ($11 million) and P.K. Subban ($9 million).

Marleau is still trying to find a team that is close to his family in San Jose.
Ho-Sang willing to start in the AHL
Sportsnet: New York Islanders Josh Ho-Sang has requested a trade and has letting teams know that he’s okay with starting in the AHL if need be.
“ going around to teams and he’s letting them know he will do whatever it takes to get a fresh start, including start in the American Hockey League,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada’s ‘Headlines’ segment. “So, if that’s what a team wants him to do, he will do it.”
