NHL Rumors: JVR-Flyers, Komarov, Senators, Oilers, Kings, Wild, Knights and Jets

The Philadelphia Flyers will be signing James van Riemsdyk to a five year contract
On James van Riemsdyk and the Philadelphia Flyers …

Frank Seravalli: The Flyers and James van Riemsdyk have agreed on a deal that will be official today.

John Buccigross: James van Riemsdyk will be signing a five-year deal with a $7 million salary cap hit.

On Leo Komarov

Aaron Portzline: The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers have shown interest in Leo Komarov.

On the Ottawa Senators …

David Pagnotta: It’s still early in the process and they’ve only held preliminary talks, but there hasn’t really been any traction between the Senators and RFAs Mark Stone and Cody Ceci.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jim Matheson: If the Oilers are looking to find a cheap right-handed defenseman, Andrej Sustr and Christian Folin could make sense.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

John Hoven: From what can tell, the Kings are not interested in Luke Schenn.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Michael Russo: The Wild have spoken with free agent forward Eric Fehr. Don’t see the Wild in on Derek Ryan.

On the Vegas Golden Knights and Ryan Reaves

Darren Dreger: Forward Ryan Reaves had been talking with multiple teams, and had extensive talks with the Calgary Flames.

Darren Dreger: Reaves signed a two-year deal with a salary cap hit of $2.775 million.

Chris Johnston: Sounding like there were teams that were offering three years. The Golden Knights matched the money but would only go two years.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Kein Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: The Jets will be looking for a backup goaltender in the $1.25 to $2 million range.

In the system, the Jets have Eric Comrie and Mikhail Berdin under contract, so they’ll be looking at the free agent and/or trade market.

Free agent options could include Chad Johnson, Kari Lehtonen, Anton Khudobin, and Petr Mrazek.

A trade option could be Maple Leafs Calvin Pickard. He’s from Winnipeg and is on a one-year deal at $800,000 in the NHL or AHL.
