On the Ottawa Senators …
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: The Senators will hold defenseman Erik Karlsson out for their remaining regular season game, his third straight game. Karlsson on if he’ll be a 100 percent for the start of the playoffs?
“We’ll see,” Karlsson added. “I probably could have played this weekend if I had to, but the guys did a great job in Boston to squeak one out there (on Thursday) and today I thought we controlled the whole game. There wasn’t really much need for me. The smart decision and the good decision was probably rest.”
Karlsson hurt his left foot on March 28th blocking a shot. Last Tuesday he crashed into the boards hurting his right foot.
“It definitely didn’t help. Long-term, it didn’t make it worse,” Karlsson said. “Short-term, it definitely did, but it’s not something that permanently damaged something that was already damaged before, so it was the right move to play. It’s just unfortunate. I didn’t need to play anymore in that game and I definitely didn’t need to play (the last two games).”
Bruce Garrioch: Coach Guy Boucher is hopeful that defenseman Marc Methot is able to return for Game 1 or Game 2.
On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
Elliotte Friedman: Goaltender Frederik Andersen left last night’s game after being hit by Tom Sestito.
