Hurricanes will be all in for Nylander
Sportsnet: William Nylander‘s future in Toronto becomes more uncertain the closer it gets to December. If the Leafs do decide to move him, the Carolina Hurricanes have said they are in.
“When the time does come — if the time does come that Toronto decides they are going to deal — Carolina has made it very clear that they are all in,” said Elliotte Friedman on the Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday.
McKenzie on Kassian and Puljujarvi
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1200 and was asked about Edmonton Oilers Zach Kassian and Jesse Puljujarvi.
McKenzie said that Kassian’s agent went to the Oilers and said he could find a team for him if they didn’t want him. Kassian would like to stay in Edmonton and he didn’t ask for a trade.
“But the Oilers did say, ‘Well, if you find anybody who is interested in him, tell them to give us a call.’ And if they get the right offer, I suppose they could trade him. But I think all things considered, they’d be happy to have him in their lineup if he’s playing as well as he can play.”
Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli does not want to trade Puljujarvi according to McKenzie.
“So I think a lot is on the line in the short term for Puljujarvi here, but the Oilers as an organization aren’t in the mode yet where they’re talking about making a move for him because they want to try and see if they can get him playing like they think he can.”
