NHL Rumors: Canadiens, Hurricanes, Golden Knights and Bruins

The Vegas Golden Knights may be targeting Marc-Andre Fleury
On the Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights …

Sportsnet: Hockey Night in Canada headlines from Saturday …

Nick Kypreos: Alexandre Burrows seemed like a player the Montreal Canadiens were interested in at the deadline.

“What stopped it? Many believe it was the $5-million extension Ottawa was willing to do that Montreal wasn’t,” Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos said Saturday on the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada.

Elliotte Friedman: Think that there were eight teams interested in Burrows, but only the Ottawa Senators were willing to offer a contract extension.

Nick Kypreos: The Winnipeg Jets and Paul Maurice have put a contract extension talks on hold, and it’s come for Maurice. He may not have wanted to work on the deal while trying to work on the Jets inconsistencies. Still believe that he’ll get the extension in the summer.

Elliotte Friedman: Wouldn’t be a surprise if the Carolina Hurricanes look to move Eddie Lack.

Nick Kypreos: Many believe the Vegas Golden Knights are targeting Marc-Andre Fleury.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins GM Don Sweeney did the smart thing and didn’t trade either Brandon Carlo or Charlie McAvoy at the deadline. Both defensemen should be part of the Bruins future. Carlo may have it wall, but he’s worked his way through it. Now that the deadline has past and he can put the rumors behind him, he can also use the rumors to help build his confidence.

“There’s nothing wrong with liking the fact that you may be wanted around the league. I think that’s pretty cool with the guy that have been mentioned with me , but overall I’m not paying too much attention to it,” said Carlo. “It’s kind of a good accomplishment to be in that category where you’re mentioned that way.”
