Methot could help the Maple Leafs and others

Shawn Simpson: If defenseman Marc Methot is able to get healthy this season, he would be a nice add for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as many other teams.

Potential landing spots for Hall

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: It’s possible the New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall becomes a rental player at the trade deadline. Looking at some teams that could possibly be interested and have the ability to acquire him.

Colorado Avalanche – Have the cap space and tried to be aggressive this past offseason.

Montreal Canadiens – Have the cap space, prospects and the draft picks to acquire.

Anaheim Ducks – Teams have a trade history and Devils would have to only play Hall once a year. Have some cap flexibility and need offensive help.

Blues wanted a Pietrangelo deal done weeks ago

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: St. Louis Blues pending free agent Alex Pietrangelo is with Newport Sports agency, an agency that tends to drag negotiations to the deadline according to Andy Strickland.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong wanted to get Pietrangelo signed weeks ago. Armstrong won’t “allow any player to hold the team hostage” with a high asking price. Pietrangelo is believed to looking for $9 million a season.

Would Hall be interested in an Oilers return?

Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal: There were four Edmonton Oilers voices that were influential when the Oilers traded Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils – Peter Chiarelli, Kelly Buchberger, Todd McLellan and Craig MacTavish. All four are now gone.

Any hard feelings, which there were, from the Hall camp should now be gone.

Would Hall be interested in a return? The Oilers have a chance to win and could be set up to do so for several years. He may have not wanted to leave in the first place, it wasn’t his choice to leave.

Hall’s agent is Darren Ferris, who also represents Oilers prospect Philip Broberg.
