On the Nashville Predators and Mike Ribeiro …
Stormin Norman: (Freelance reporter out of Montreal – covering NHL for 20 years) Predators center Mike Ribeiro is looking for a change of scenery. Could be a great fit in Montreal.
Stormin Norman: Ribeiro asked for a trade on Wednesday.
Stormin Norman: Ribeiro will talk with his agent today.
Chris Nichols: Elliotte Friedman this morning: “There was a report last night out of Quebec that Mike Ribeiro has asked for a trade.” … “I haven’t had any confirmation, but it wouldn’t surprise considering he’s not playing.”
On the Vancouver Canucks and Jannik Hansen …
Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: Forward Jannik Hansen hopes that GM Jim Benning doesn’t ask any Canucks to waive their no-trade causes. Hansen has another year left on his deal and is on the bubble of being protected by the Canucks for the expansion draft. The Canucks would likely protect someone younger than the 31-year old Hansen. The Canucks may not want to lose Hansen for nothing and could look move him before the deadline. Hansen carries a $2.5 million cap hit.
On the St. Louis Blues and Patrik Berglund …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman was on 630 CHED on the interest level on St. Louis Blues pending free agent forward Patrik Berglund.
“Berglund’s name is a name I started to hear really recently. I’m not sure he was going to re-sign in St. Louis. But you never know. The one thing you saw with the Islanders, for example right now, is that the Islanders I think were getting close to trading Ryan Strome. They made the coaching change and they said, ‘Let’s see what happens here under Doug Weight.’ And you know what? I think (the Blues) might do the same thing. They might just say, ‘Okay, let’s see how all of this goes under Mike Yeo before we make the decisions.’0
