Teams will be trying again to acquire Robert Thomas from the Blues, including the Wild

The Fourth Period: Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn said he’d be open to a contract extension. Check. Now, the Wild need to see if they can acquire a second-line center after trying unsuccessfully at the trade deadline.

They showed interest in Vincent Trocheck (Rangers), Ryan O’Reilly (Predators), Jesperi Kotkaniemi (Hurricanes), and Robert Thomas (Blues).

Michael Russo reported in The Athletic that the Wild offered goaltender Jesper Wallstedt and forward Danila Yurov for Thomas, but were rejected by the Blues.

The Wild, Utah Mammoth, Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres were among the teams that tried, and will likely re-try this offseason again.

The futures of Connor Hellebuyck and Sergei Bobrovsky

Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta, on what if the Winnipeg Jets don’t have a good season next year, what does that mean for Connor Hellebuyck, and he wonders about the future of Sergei Bobrovsky in Florida.

Pagnotta: “If they don’t have a good season next year, this time next year, we’re probably having a much more realistic conversation about Connor Hellebuyck’s future in Winnipeg.”

Irfan Gaffar: “Wow.”

Pagnotta: “There are teams that are going to look at this. Like you mentioned Florida earlier. So Florida’s got to figure out what’s going on with Bobrovsky. And we know he wants a big contract. We know he wants a lot of money, and he wants that Marchant-type of gimme term, I’ll take less money kind of, kind of vibe there.

But my gut says they get to it, but if not, they have to figure out what to do with goaltending.

Pittsburgh Penguins – Offseason Questions and Some Options

Do they have a conversation with Winnipeg about Hellebuyck? I mean, I would, if I were them. Doesn’t mean the Jets will pick up the phone or say anything. And then you got to figure out what the hell to do to deal is. That ninth overall pick, plus, plus, plus.
