Garrioch Rumor Roundup …
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving is wanting to be active on the trade front. Teams are calling about pending UFAs Jiri Hudler and Kris Russell. Word is the Flames and Russell aren’t close on a deal. He could get $5 million on the open market. The Flames could look for a goalie.
- The Hurricanes are looking to trade Eric Staal despite being in the playoff hunt. Teams could call about Ron Hainsey, Kris Versteeg and Nathan Gerbe. Jeff Skinner’s contract makes him hard to move.
- The Leafs are getting interest in P.A. Parenteau and Roman Polak. Good luck in moving Joffrey Lupul’s contract.
- It’s believed the Flames have started talks with pending RFAs Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. Only Monahan is subject to an offer sheet.
- Flyers GM Ron Hextall has been calling around to see if anyone is interested in Mark Streit ($5.25 million next year) and Nick Schultz ($2.25 million next year). The Flyers wouldn’t mind moving Matt Read and his two years at $3.625 million
- The Oilers are shopping Lauri Korpikoski ($2.5 million next year), Justin Schultz and Teddy Purcell.
- The Sharks need a defenseman.
- The Bruins are trying to re-sign Loui Eriksson, but they are not in the “same stratosphere” in their talks.
- Four teams that were contacted hadn’t heard P.K. Subban’s being shopped, but they do believe that Bergevin is listening to everyone. IF, Bergevin were to explore a Subban trade, it is more of an offseason deal and before July 1st when Subban’s no-movement clause kicks in.
- The Canadiens are shopping Dale Weise, Thomas Fleischmann and Tom Gilbert. There is mild interest in Lars Eller.
- Belief is the Canucks will ask Dan Hamhuis to waive his no-trade clause. They would like to move Radim Vrbata.
- Teams may be waiting the Jets to trade Andrew Ladd to set the market place.
