You’d think a coaching hot seat could be found, but maybe not

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: You’d think the coaching hot seat could be found in New Jersey and Los Angeles, but maybe not. Devils GM Tom Fitzergard did give coach Sheldon Keefe some reassurance this week. has the understanding that Kings GM Ken Holland isn’t planning on replacing coach Jim Hiller. Hiller could be re-evaluated in the offseason.

The New York Rangers hope to know more about Artemi Panarin by the Olympic trade freeze

TSN: It doesn’t sound like there is much going on with contract talks between Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers, according to Darren Dreger.

“It doesn’t sound like there’s a whole lot of activity in terms of a negotiation on an extension. So if they’re willing, or want to ask Panarin to waive his no-move clause, what’s the reaction going to be there? They’re hoping to find that out before the Olympic break, as well.”

NHL Rumors: Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, and the New Jersey Devils

Teams likely to wait on Kiefer Sherwood’s health

NHL Rumour Report: Rick Dhaliwal on the Donnie & Dhali on Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood: “One team told me on Kiefer Sherwood, I think teams are gonna wait and see if he’s healthy at the break regarding trading for him.”

The New York Rangers had made the Vancouver Canucks an offer for Kiefer Sherwood

TSN: Chris Johnston adds that the Rangers are now looking and selling and not adding, and are no longer interested in Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood. The Rangers had offered the Canucks a second-round pick and a young player that has some ‘pedigree.’ It obviously wasn’t enough and shows what the Canucks are at least chasing for Sherwood.

The Canucks are listening on Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk, and maybe Conor Garland. Johnston adds that if they trade any of these players, the order in which they are moved may be important.
