NHL Rumors: Oilers, Sharks, Penguins, Ducks, and Senators

The Pittsburgh Penguins may not be done making moves and have talked with the Anaheim Ducks.
Oilers should be looking into a couple wingers you could be available

Jim Matheson: is sure the Edmonton Oilers have taken a look at William Nylander. With the Toronto Maple Leafs needing a right-handed defenseman, it would take Adam Larsson.

Jim Matheson: The Oilers should be watching New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello ahead of the trade deadline. He’s a pending UFA.

No meaningful talks yet for Pavelski

Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: It’s not sounding like there have been any meaningful contract talks between the San Jose Sharks and pending unrestricted free agent Joe Pavelski.

The Sharks also have defenseman Erik Karlsson as a pending free agent.

Penguins may not be done

Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: The LA Kings may let things play out a bit after the Tanner Pearson for Carl Hagelin trade last week.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will likely continue to look to make some moves.

Daniel Sprong and Olli Maatta have had their names come up in the rumor mill. There have been some whispers about Phil Kessel, but the Penguins need more scoring not less.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Penguins have lost two games since they made the Pearson-Hagelin trade.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned on Vancouver radio that he believed the Penguins and Anaheim Ducks had held some trade talks.

Penguins director of pro scouting Derek Clancey was in Anaheim last night to watch the Ducks-Avs game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had their director of pro scouting Troy Brodie at the game. St. Louis Blues VP of hockey ops Dave Taylor took in the game as well. The Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, and Washington Capitals also scouted the game.

The Ducks have center Adam Henrique and right-handed defensemen Brandon Montour and Josh Manson.

Duchene’s agent and Senators still talking … Stone talks to start next month

Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone is not eligible to sign a new deal until after January 1st but talks will start before then. Nick Kypreos reported that talks will start next month and a new deal could contain lots of signing bonuses.

Matt Duchene‘s agent Pat Brisson met again with the Senators GM Pierre Dorion last week.
