On the Ottawa Senators and Erik Karlsson

Chris Stevenson: A source has said that he believes the Dallas Stars have emerged as the front-runner for defenseman Erik Karlsson. Bobby Ryan won’t be part of the deal. Don’t have any other details.

Sean Shapiro: is closer on the Senators side, and trusts his reporting. From the Stars side of things, they are very interested and it is possible.

Sean Shapiro: From standpoint, can’t see how a Karlsson deal wouldn’t involve Julius Honka going to the Senators.

Bruce Garrioch: (earlier today) Interest in Karlsson from the Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers and now talk of the Dallas Stars.

B.D. Gallof: Source this morning said the New York Islanders are pushing hard for Karlsson: “If this (Karlsson) doesn’t happen it will be completely due to him wanting to play somewhere else. It won’t be being outbid OR not giving enough in trade.”
