NHL Rumors: Panthers, Golden Knights, Blue Jackets, Coyotes and Canadiens

Could the Montreal Canadiens move Alex Galchenyuk this offseason
On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Panthers GM Dale Tallon didn’t have much of an update on UFA forward Jaromir Jagr. Tallon has spoken with Jagr’s agent several times.

Harvey Fialkov: Tallon added that he’ll wait until after the expansion draft to make a final decision on Jagr.

Harvey Fialkov: Tallon said that he’s spoken with Jagr’s agent once a week for the past month.

Harvey Fialkov: A Jagr decision may depend on who they lose in the expansion draft.

On the Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets and Arizona Coyotes …

David Pagnotta: Many, including believe the Blue Jackets and Golden Knights have a deal involving David Clarkson. The Golden Knights may not have been the only team talking Clarkson.

David Pagnotta: Have heard that the Coyotes were also talking to the Blue Jackets about Clarkson. Have to think that the Coyotes could be open to other options like this as well.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

David Pagnotta: The Coyotes were close to signing Martin Hanzal to a short-term extension before the trade deadline but it was nixed by someone “higher up.”

David Pagnotta: Now that owner Barraway is buying out the minority owners, not sure if it would be an issue anymore or if Hanzal would even be open to the idea of returning.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 talking about the Montreal Canadiens. They could be looking to make some sort of move this offseason.

“To me the biggest question is Galchenyuk. I’ve heard a lot of rumors that they’re going to try to move him. But I think that’s probably the biggest one. And if you are trading Galchenyuk, I’m curious to see what he’s going to get in return.

“So I think those are the ones to watch in Montreal.”
