Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Coyotes traded Max Domi to the Canadiens last night for Alex Galchenyuk.

The Penguins have been talking to the Coyotes about Domi, and sources are saying that the Penguins had thought they were about to land Domi.

A source said that the Penguins offered the Coyotes Dominik Simon and their choice of forward, believed to be either Conor Sheary or Bryan Rust. Source added that they thought their offer was good enough and were shocked that Domi was dealt to the Canadiens.

L.A. Lariviere: Had been told that last year at the draft the New Jersey Devils looked at a Galchenyuk trade offer. The New York Rangers also did some time ago. There were off-ice “concerns.”
