Positive talks between the Philadelphia Flyers and Kevin Hayes

Dave Isaac: Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher said that they’ve had “some very good, positive” contract talks with Kevin Hayes reps.

Jordan Hall of NBC Sports: The Flyers are still working on signing recently acquired Kevin Hayes. Hayes played four seasons under Flyers new coach Alain Vigneault and they hope that helps.

“I think he’s a guy who’s familiar with our coach and our coach is familiar with him,” Fletcher said. “If he signs, that will help. There shouldn’t be any learning curve. He should be able to step in seamlessly if we’re able to sign him.”

It was always going to be a challenge for the Flyers to sign Hayes before the interview process starts next weekend.

Bill Meltzer: (on the rumor that there is a mutual interest between the Boston Bruins and Kevin Hayes) “With Bergeron ($6.875M cap hit), Krejci ($7.25M) and Coyle ($3.2) all still under contract for at least one (Coyle), two (Krejci) or three (Bergeron) more yrs, Bruins need for/interest in Hayes sounds like wishful thinking from the “sources close to Hayes”

Flyers checking out the goalie trade market

Dave Isaac: GM Fletcher said that he’s talked to teams about trading for a goaltender.

That doesn’t sound well for them re-signing either Cam Talbot or Brian Elliott.

Myers to replace Gudas?

Charlie O’Connor: GM Fletcher basically says that defenseman Phil Myers will take Radko Gudas’ third pairing slot on the right side.
