Poile on the Subban trade

Pierre LeBrun: Nashville Predators GM David Poile said that it basically came down to four teams for a P.K. Subban trade.

By the sounds of it, the New Jersey Devils were the only team that was willing to take on Subban’s full contract.

Brooks Bratten: Poile said there four teams who were serious. All deals were different.

The Predators took the deal that gave them the most cap space.

Brooks Bratten: Poile said that if it weren’t for getting Dante Fabbro signed and for him playing as well he did, they would not have traded Subban.

Flames tried to acquire more picks … What about Perry?

Pat Steinberg: Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving said they tried to make things happen with regards to trades but they weren’t able to get anything done.

He added that their main focus had been to acquire more draft picks.

Eric Francis: “I know Corey Perry is broken down and a shell of his former self, AND I know the have no money, but I can’t stop thinking about the fact he represents the essence of what the Flames need to add this summer: a gritty disruptor. Won’t happen, but it sure intrigues me.”

Nothing new with Panarin and Bobrovsky … $$ not worth a first

Craig Custance: Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said that there is no changes with regards to Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin front.

They still haven’t ruled out the option of the sign-and-trade if eight years for either is that important.

Brian Hedger: Blue Jackets GM Kekalainen on contract dumps, mainly the Hurricanes acquiring a first-round pick to buy out Patrick Marleau‘s contract.

“Pay $3.8 million for a first-round pick? No, thank you.”

So far there have been no takers but that could change in the next few days.
