NHL Rumors: Predators, Golden Knights, Jets and Red Wings

A Roman Josi extension a priority for the Nashville Predators
Josi extension still a priority

Paul Skrbina: Nashville Predators GM David Poile said that a Roman Josi remains a top priority for them.

Robby Stanley: Poile on Josi negotiations: “I’m going to do everything I can to sign Roman. He wants to be here and we want him here.”

Brooks Bratten: Poile said that they are likely done with free agency but you never say never. They could look at making a trade as opposed to signing a free agent.

Vegas doesn’t need to make any more cap moves and no urgency for Engelland

Ben Gotz: Vegas Golden Knights GM George McPhee said that they don’t anticipate having to make another salary cap related move.

Justin Emerson: McPhee said that there is no urgency to get unrestricted free agent defenseman Deryk Engelland signed. He’s a UFA but by saying that it confirms he’ll be back.

Winnipeg working on some other things

Scott Billeck: Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff on if there any more moves to come:

“There’s other things we’ve been working on. Again, every free agency period or talking period takes on a life of its own. There are some other depth moves or some other moves, hopefully, that we can announce as the days go on.”

Red Wings still mulling a few things over

Max Bultman: Detroit Red Wings GM Yzerman added that there were a couple of things that they were mulling over, especially at the right wing postion. They don’t want to add a player just because they may have a spot open. They are also not ruling out adding another defenseman.

Max Bultman:  Steve Yzerman said that if they signed another forward or defenseman wouldn’t box out one of their younger prospects but would give them some protection.

Max Bultman: Yzerman said that they were only interested in one to three-year deals and nothing long-term.
