The Nashville Predators are scouting the Montreal Canadiens
The Fourth Period: David Pagnotta said the Nashville Predators had two scouts watching the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday and Thursday. The Canadiens have been linked to Steven Stamkos and Ryan O’Reilly. Stamkos has two years left and a full no-movement clause. O’Reilly doesn’t have trade protection and has one year left.
Will the Winnipeg Jets look for an experienced goalie, and some blue line changes could be coming?
Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press: (mailbag) With Connor Hellebuyck out for four to six weeks (14 to 20 games), the Winnipeg Jets could look at the goalie market for someone with a bit of experience. They’ll run with Eric Comrie and Thomas Milic for now.
NHL Rumors: The Trade Market is Real Thin Right Now
Defenseman Colin Miller hasn’t gotten much playing time. Luke Schenn, in Miller position on the third pairing, has struggled with his lack of foot speed and mobility showing. When Haydn Fleury clears concussion protocol, would they give him a shot on the third pairing and push Schenn out of the lineup?
The Lukas Reichel experiment in Vancouver may not last long, and other changes could be coming
Jeff Paterson of Canucks Army: (mailbag) The Vancouver Canucks didn’t give up much for forward Lukas Reichel. It is odd they’ve that he decided the experiment is over. They had him at center, and it’s obvious that he’s better suited for the wing. They gave him three weeks at center, who not try him at wing for two weeks.
Think there is a good chance that forward Conor Garland is traded. Until his extension kicks in, he doesn’t have any trade protection. With the way he works, there should be plenty of interest and trade value. Pending UFA forward Kiefer Sherwood could also be moved. Not saying either is imminent, but they could be moved later if they fall further out of the race.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Vancouver Canucks are looking to get younger and let teams know they are willing to listen on their “veteran players.”
One executive said they were made clear that trading Quinn Hughes is not a priority for the Canucks right now. Teams also don’t feel like defenseman Filip Hronek is going anywhere.
NHL Rumors: Senators, Sabres, and the Kraken
Pending UFAs and a player or two that have term left on their contracts could be moved. Jim Rutherford‘s history shows he’s not one to wait around.
