Predators willing to retain salary

Ty Anderson: Darren Dreger said that the Nashville Predators would be willing to retain up to $3 million of P.K. Subban‘s $9 million cap hit to get a trade done.

Wild won’t trade Zucker for the sake of trading him

Michael Russo: Minnesota Wild GM Paul Fenton on forward Jason Zucker: “i don’t plan to get rid of Jason unless the right thing came to me. I listen to offers and I make offers. It doesn’t mean that he’s pigeonholed into something. I love Jason as a player.”

Leafs-Predators talked Subban

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Bob McKenzie reported yesterday that the Toronto Maple Leafs showed some interest in Predators defenseman P.K. Subban.

Cap issues are well known for the Maple Leafs and they’d need the Predators to retain some salary, as well as moving out salary beforehand.

A Source is saying that the Maple Leafs and Coyotes re-engaged in some trade scenario’s that would send Patrick Marleau out to Arizona and then to be bought out. Marleau would then sign with the Sharks on a cheaper deal.

Notes from the draft floor

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: The Hurricanes met with Sebastian Aho‘s agent yesterday but not much progress to report. Believe that Aho is looking for a five-year deal and the Hurricanes want eight years. They also aren’t on the same money page. One Western executive:

“Everyone thinks Mitch Marner is the one to worry about with an offer sheet, I would put my money on Aho,’’ he said.

Anders Lee agent met with New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello yesterday and will do again before leaving Vancouver.

Justin Faulk‘s talks with the Hurricanes didn’t go well and teams can submit trade offers. Things can always change between the Hurricanes and Faulk.

A William Karlsson contract extension with the Vegas Golden Knights could be done soon.

The Florida Panthers continue to shop goaltender James Reimer. Would the Oilers or Flyers be interested?
