On the St. Louis Blues …
Sportsnet: St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong said back in December that they likely wouldn’t be in the market for a rental.
Armstrong was on Sportsnet’s Hockey Central at Noon yesterday and suggested again that they might be active at the deadline but not in the rental market.
The Blues could use some more offense and have been linked to Max Pacioretty and Mike Hoffman.
“I think we’re going to be active on hockey trades more than rental trades,” Armstrong said. “The reality is if you’re trading an unrestricted free agent at that time you’re going to get what you can get and sometimes that won’t come until the last second.”
Armstrong later added that once a ‘higher-name player’ gets traded, the trade market may take off.
