NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and Arizona Coyotes

The Blackhkawks and Kings have reportedly inquired about Boston Bruins Zdeno Chara
On the Detroit Red Wings …

David Pagnotta: Multiple teams have shown interest in Riley Sheahan, Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist. Steve Ott is also available.

Aaron Ward: The Red Wings have to make a decision on pending UFA defenseman Brendan Smith. If they are able to get a deal done, could be around three years and in the area of $3.75 million per season.

Nick Cotsonika: If the Red Wings don’t trade Thomas Vanek, would it increase the odds of Vanek re-signing with them? Vanek said: “Probably. Yeah. For sure.”

On the Boston Bruins …

Jimmy Murphy: Sources saying that the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks have shown interest in Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara and the Bruins are listening.

Jimmy Murphy: On the Zdeno Chara trade chatter … they are listening and are not in serious trade talks at this point. Chara has a no-movement clause.

Jimmy Murphy: If the Bruins were to ask Chara about waiving his NMC – and they are not even close to asking him – he likely wouldn’t waive it.

Jimmy Murphy: On scout on forward Matt Beleskey: “If Bruins willing to eat some of his salary, he’ll be dealt.”

Jimmy Murphy: Hearing that the Toronto Maple Leafs could have some interest in Beleskey. Colorado Avalanche in a bigger deal and Arizona Coyotes could also be interested.

Kevin Paul Dupont: The Bruins are paying pending RFAs and UFAs Ryan Spooner, David Pastrnak, Tim Schaller and Dominic Moore $3.6 million this seaosn. Projecting the four would cost around $9 million to re-sign all of them.

On the Arizona Coyotes and Boston Bruins …

Kevin Paul Dupont: Think that Coyotes winger Radim Vrbata would be a perfect fit for the Bruins. May take a 2nd and 3rd round pick, or a 2nd round pick and a prospect. Vrbata would be a 3rd liner for the Bruins, and could move up if need be.

Craig Custance: (going off Dupont) Would make a lot of sense for the Bruins. As many as 10 teams are in on Vrbata. Too early to name a front runner.
