Nothing on Pominville yet

Matthew Bove: Buffalo Sabres GM Jason Botterill when asked said there is no decision made on the future of forward Jason Pominville.

Islanders and Eberle talks ongoing

David Pagnotta: Though nothing is imminent, has been told that the New York Islanders haven’t closed the door on signing free agent winger Jordan Eberle.

Contract talks with Eberle have been ongoing, and the same can be said for Robin Lehner and Anders Lee.

They are looking to keep all their options open.

Islanders could use some scoring help

Andy Graziano of WFAN: It is believed that Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello is “very interested” in the trade market this offseason.

The Islanders could use some offensive help.

Any signings/trades this offseason need to take into consideration that Mathew Barzal, Ryan Pulock and Devon Toews will need new contracts next offseason.

Free agent targets like Artemi Panarin and Matt Duchene are going to cost over $8.5 million, and Erik Karlsson is going to be $9 million plus.

If you trade for Jacob Trouba, he’ll need a big, new contract. Patrik Laine would cost a lot – trading for and paying.

Would the Islanders and Maple Leafs be interested in a Nick Leddy for Nazem Kadri deal?

Could the Jets and Oilers come together on a deal?

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The Winnipeg Jets have some salary cap issues they need to deal with.

The Edmonton Oilers could offer Jesse Puljujarvi (who is friends with Patrik Laine), prospect Ethan Bear, and 2019 2nd round pick (No. 38) for Nik Ehlers.

The Jets could then try to package the No. 38 pick and their own 2nd (No. 51) and move back into the first round.

Other defensive prospects the Jets could look at Dmitry Samorukov or William Lagesson over Bear.
