On the Buffalo Sabres …
Renaud Lavoie: There has been lots of talk about Evander Kane. A few teams are showing some interest in Benoit Pouliot.
Dan Kingerski: “I do believe Jason Botterill is learning a very important lesson right now: Don’t over value your players and strike will the iron is hot. I’m willing to wager the price JB gets for Evander Kane will be much less than he asked and that he could have done better 2 months ago”
On the Detroit Red Wings …
Ken Campbell: Teams are calling the Red Wings about Tomas Tatar. Tatar has three years left on his deal at a $5.3 million cap hit. If the Red Wings are looking assets, they would likely have to retain some of his salary.
Craig Custance: Inquiring teams are aware of Mike Green‘s injury status. The Red Wings have stressed to Green they didn’t want to rush him back before the deadline just to show teams that he was healthy. Because of the injury, and with Erik Karlsson and Ryan McDonagh potentially available, things have been quiet on Green.
On the Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild …
Eric Engels: There is nothing going on between the Canadiens and Wild – no to Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk or anyone else.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
Jason Botchford: The Canucks have to move Thomas Vanek, and it’s likely they will. The bigger question is, what else will they move?
Jason Botchford: The Canucks should be aggressive in a Vanek deal. They have the salary cap space that would allow them to take on a bad contract.
Matthew Sekeres: The Canucks have received a handful of trade calls on Vanek. Teams are more interested in Sabres Evander Kane and Oilers Patrick Maroon. Vanek doesn’t have a good playoff history.
Rick Dhaliwal: Though things can change, unlikely the Canucks will trade defenseman Ben Hutton.
