NHL Rumors: Sabres, Flames, Senators and Coyotes

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is hopeful that he and the Arizona Coyotes could work out a contract extension.
On the Buffalo Sabres …

Joe Yerdon: By sending Matt Moulson down during the season, it’s pretty telling what they think of his play.

Would think that he could be a candidate to be bought out.

On the Calgary Flames …

Pat Steinberg: Flames pending free agent forward Matt Stajan: “In a perfect world, I’ll be back here. I’m a realist…I’m 34, I get that decisions are going to be made. I’m a UFA. I do intend to play hockey somewhere next year.”

On the Ottawa Senators …

Murray Pam: Senators forward Bobby Ryan on the possibility of being traded this offseason: “Based my conversation that won’t be the case early on here. But things change very quickly when you’re in the position we’re in.’

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan: Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson said that he’d like to sign a contract extension with the Coyotes when he’s able to after July 1st.

“I would obviously like to figure something out,” he said Monday as the team cleaned out its lockers at Gila River Arena. “I’ve said it so many times. This is where I want to be. Hopefully we can work something out.”

The 26-year old Ekman-Larsson will make $7 million next year with a $5.5 million cap hit. He finished the season with 14 goals and 28 points for 42 points in 82 games, logged 23:40 in ice-time

A source said that Brandon Hickey likely won’t sign with the Coyotes and would become a free agent in August and some with another team.

Pending free agents Zac Rinaldo and Brad Richardson both said they would like to re-sign with the Coyotes.

GM John Chayka will be looking to add to their forward group.

“We need to add some high-end players up front and add some depth, continue to grow that group.”
