On the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs …
TSN Insider Trading: Pierre LeBrun: There are some that think the Anaheim Ducks feel pressure to move a defenseman, but they may not think that way. They are in a good position as there are many teams that are in dire need of a defenseman. thinks that the Ducks will move Sami Vatanen, and there are teams lining up for him. Among the teams that are likely interested include the Maple Leafs, Lightning, Devils. There is no way the Ducks leave Josh Manson unprotected.
Darren Dreger: Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle is getting some interest. The Islanders are one of the teams looking at Eberle and it appears they are going to have to move a defenseman – maybe you could connect Travis Hamonic to the Oilers. The Oilers aren’t going to give Eberle away. There is a strong chance that they trade him, but there is no guarantee.
Pierre LeBrun: The Arizona Coyotes are listening on 34-year old Mike Smith. They may want to get younger in net, but would only move him if the offer is right. There are at least three teams that have called the Coyotes about Smith. The Flames are one of the teams that has called, but thinks the Flames No. 1 target in net is Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.
Pierre LeBrun: Signs pointing toward the San Jose Sharks signing Martin Jones to a contract extension shortly after July 1st. Contract talks have been positive.
Darren Dreger: Kyle Dubas’ role with the Toronto Maple Leafs may expand and that a contract extension could be in place. A strange back and forth between the Maple Leafs, Avalanche and Dubas. The Leafs did give the Avs permission, but thinks they may not have realized how serious the Avs were in potentially hiring Dubas.
