Sharks could trade Dillon and Ryan … Donskoi going to interviews
Kevin Kurz: The Sharks could be open to the idea of trading defenseman Brendan Dillon in the right deal. He carries a $3.27 million salary cap hit.
Pierre LeBrun: Pending free agent Joonas Donskoi has told the San Jose Sharks that he’s going to be talking to other teams during the interview process. He’s not closing the door on a Sharks return. He also thinks that it might be time for a new start.
Kevin Kurz: It wouldn’t be a surprise if Sharks trade restricted free agent Joakim Ryan. Radim Simek has basically forced him out and a free start for him may be good.
Tom Gulitti of NHL.com: The Sharks signed Erik Karlsson last week. Joe Thornton said he wants to return and only play for the Sharks.
“He wants to win,” DeBoer said. “How many guys in his position still being as productive as he is would play one-year contracts for the last three or four years? Nobody does that. So I think the contract is the least of the worries.”
A Myers-Canucks meeting already set … Canucks had interest in Barrie and Subban
Rick Dhaliwal: Have been told that the Vancouver Canucks will meet with defenseman Tyler Myers today in Vancouver.
Rick Dhaliwal: According to sources, after the first round selection by the Canucks on Friday, the Canucks window for acquiring Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie passed.
The free agent interview process opens – Jake Gardiner and Tyler Myers.
Rick Dhaliwal: Sources morning said the Canucks showed very good interest in P.K. Subban, but in the end, they didn’t get close.
The Penguins looked into Puljujarvi
Kurt Leavins: Have been told that the Pittsburgh Penguins have inquired about Edmonton Oilers winger Jesse Puljujarvi.
It’s believed that the asking price was forward Bryan Rust.
Mark Spector: Oilers GM Ken Holland continues Puljujarvi trade talks into Saturday, but he makes no guarantees that he’ll be moved.
It’s sounding like Holland would like their first-round pick Phillip Broberg to play for Hamilton (OHL) over Skelleftea because he’d likely get more playing time.
