The Avs have talked to the Senators about Stone

AJ Haefele: Have heard that the Colorado Avalanche have talked to the Ottawa Senators about forward Mark Stone.

Avs GM Joe Sakic has said he won’t be giving up any of their young core pieces, so don’t see how there would be a fit.

It would be a surprise if there are any serious talks in the next couple of weeks.

AJ Haefele: Now if Stone were to be testing free agency this offseason, the Avs could make a serious run at him.

They are interested in him but aren’t interested in giving up any big assets for him now.

A smaller fish the Avs could look at

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 1050 talking about the Colorado Avalanche and if they could be looking to add someone ahead of the trade deadline.

LeBrun notes that the Avalanche could use some secondary scoring.

“So I’ll give you a name that I know Colorado has kicked tires on, and I don’t know how far it’s gotten, but Andre Burakovsky in Washington has been on the trade block for a bit now. He’s just fallen out of favor in Washington. Young player, he was great on the Cup run last year for Washington. He’s a guy who is under control past this year. He’s an RFA.”
